Product Issue:
We have identified a quality concern affecting the busbar elements listed in the Products Affected by This Announcement section of the technote. Due to an unexpected phase-to-phase connection within the internal structure, an internal short-circuit event may occur. The affected busbars were manufactured from CW44 2024 to CW40 2025
Impact:
A potential insulation failure within the busbar may lead to a short circuit. In some circumstances, this could result in overheating or fire, creating a risk of damage to the equipment or electrical panel where the busbar is installed. Customers using products from this production period can detect the non-conformance immediately after installation if a functional or continuity test is performed.
Resolution:
We have implemented the following immediate measures:
- Suspension of production and shipments: All manufacturing activities and outgoing shipments of the affected busbar families have been halted.
- Inventory quarantine: All internal stock and distribution centers inventory have been blocked and are being returned to the supplier for full re-verification.
- Segregation of suspect materials: Any components suspected of being affected are being isolated, clearly labelled, and prevented from use.
- Destruction of non-compliant parts: Any units that do not pass re-inspection will be destroyed to ensure they cannot re-enter the supply chain.
- Strengthened supplier controls: Enhanced test procedures, tighter inspection protocols, and additional quality controls have been implemented at the supplier to prevent recurrence and ensure compliance for future shipments
- Parts outside the suspected period are not affected and can be used normally.
- Parts within the suspected period that have already been installed in the application, and are operating correctly, are considered safe to keep in use: No replacement is required.
- Busbars within the suspected period that are still in stock, or on the shelf, must be returned to Sprecher+Schuh. Please open an official Quality Claim, reference this Tech Note, and contact the dedicated team at Sprecher+Schuh Customer Service to manage the disposition process.
