Solid State Relays

Solid State Relays

SAR DIN Rail Mount Relays

Reliable Performance for Millions of Operations

Sprecher + Schuh's SAR line of solid state relays are the ideal solution for applications where high speed switching and long life are essential. In specific applications, solid state relays offer many advantages over electromechanical devices, including no moving parts or contact arcing. In addition, solid state relays are directly compatible with logic components such as microprocessors and PLCs.

Features:

Broad selection for many applications

The SAR solid state relays are DIN-rail mountable style with integral heatsink and available from 25A, 40A, 50A, 75A and 100A single phase. A three phase model is available up to 30A. The SAR include a wide range input from 4-32 VDC or 100-280VAC, and output from 24-660VAC.

Opto-isolated input limits current leakage

All series SAS(R) solid state relays feature opto-isolated inputs where an internal LED signals a photosensitive element when output switching is to occur. This provides up to 4000V isolation between the input voltage and the output voltage and also limits current leakage. This feature is important in certain medical, residential and industrial applications. DC relays are also protected if the polarity is accidentally reversed during installation.

Output circuit has many protection features

All Series SAS(R) solid state relays feature zero voltage turn-on, which means they are designed to turn on at the next zero crossover after application of the control voltage. This limits electromagnetic interference, reducing the chance of damage to downstream equipment. A built-in snubber circuit reduces the likelihood of damage to the relay from rapid changes in voltage (dv/dt) and transient voltages. In addition, all 660V output relays are designed with 1200V blocking voltage, further protecting the relay.

Common applications

Transparent cover for touch protection

Many safety & convenience features

All Sprecher + Schuh solid state relays come standard with an LED to indicate when the relay is in an operational state. This increases safety and speeds troubleshooting. In addition, all hockey puck type relays come standard with a transparent cover that provides touch protection. Rail mounted relays also offer touch protection through the use of recessed terminals.

Integral heatsink with DIN-rail mounting

The SAR solid state relays are designed with a built-in heatsink for superior heat dissipation. This eliminates the hassle of selecting and installing a properly sized heatsink, or mounting the relay directly on the backpan with silicone grease.

"Intelligent" relays include special fusing

SAR relays come standard with a feature that shuts down the unit when it senses an overtemperature condition. A built-in replaceable semiconductor fuse further protects these larger relays from catastrophic failures due to short circuits.

International Standards and Approvals

International Standards and Approvals

All Sprecher + Schuh SAR(S) solid state relays are UL Recognized and CSA Approved. They also carry the CE mark.
